One such band is Sirensong, who have been in touch via two routes, their PR team at BFJ Media and a recommendation from a friend of the Podcast, Mr Mark Donoghue, singer with the mighty King Kraken. Won’t Let You Wake Up was released recently. It’s a strong song that showcases the vocals of Alice Freya and which combines Rock and Pop in glorious harmony. A song with a serious message that focuses on mental health from the perspective of anxiety, it’s described as a “creepy new twist”. It’s dominated by a thick riff that powers the song forward, with Freya’s tones a blend of Gothic, Doom, and more modern metal. The dark subject matter fits well with the power of the song, and the pace and construction of the song provides just the right amount of atmosphere and balance to hook you in.
Indeed, the chorus is a real earworm, burying in deep and leaving an impression that will take time to clear. It’s performed with a dynamic blend of styles, including some vibrant electronica which lurks underneath, whilst the dual guitar work of Ryan Barnard and Jon Evans works in tandem. At under four-minutes, it’s a song that blasts along and although it’s over quickly, getting it out of the head is a different prospect. Between the five members, they've played at several festivals across the UK & Europe including Bloodstock, Crescendo and Planet Rock's Winters End, and have appeared on the same bill as Ghost, Skindred, Testament, Megadeth, Kris Barras. With a new album being recorded, there's more to come from Sirensong.
