SINGLE REVIEW: Eulogy - Tomorrow is Lost

We covered Eulogy’s last single Pariah a couple of months ago and the band were guests on the podcast that never happened due to technical difficulties. Undeterred by another change in guitarist, the trio have now recruited Ryan Lewis from And the Sky Darkened and he’ll make his debut with the band early in 2025. 

Whereas Pariah ripped your face off with its ferocity, Tomorrow is Lost is a slower, brooding beast with a dark edge to it that simmers with a sinister evil. The performance of the three members of the band is on point, with Josh Bird’s drumming impressive. As the song unwinds, it’s evident that there’s a lot of craft gone into the song, for it slowly builds without any rush or panic. Neil Thomas once again puts in a sterling vocal performance whilst Mike Williams’ guitar work provides the cutting edge. Whilst it’s not the instant banger that Pariah may have been, there’s something a bit special about this track. The slow burn enhances the overall song, and repeated listens allow it to sink slowly into the psyche. 

With a new album on the horizon and a new guitarist ready to go, 2025 should be a good year for the Cardiff based band. Keep an ear out for more from this solid and creative outfit.

1978 saw the seventh album by UFO and the final release by the classic line-up of Mogg, Way, Parker, Raymond and Schenker (until their reformation in 1993). Chrysalis records present the album in a newly remastered package which includes a previously unreleased 2024 mix of Live at The Agora Ballroom, Cleveland, originally featured in parts on the seminal Strangers in the Night live record. Mixed from the original multi-track tapes by engineer Brian Kehew, this is the most sonic version of the recordings to date. Kehew comments that, “Our new mix of the Cleveland show is definitely a bit more aggressive than the original Strangers LP, sounding more like a front-row seat than Row 50 position.”  But let’s drop back into the album first before getting to the live tracks. LIVE REVIEW: Ruination Festival, The Underground / Nightrain, Bradford 11/05/24

With the morning’s breakfast digested and hangover managed, we make our way for the first band of today’s selection. We arrive at the venue 10 minutes early and are told we cannot enter, and we must queue. Instead of queuing we go for a pint, which makes us miss Dead Monarchs. Apologies. [Something tells me this isn’t the first time our Neil has done this!] So, the first band we do catch is the first band back at the Underground is Dunes. My Bloodstock colleagues and I had the good fortune to witness them at said festival completely by chance. We were impressed then, and I was keen to know if they could do it again. ALBUM REVIEW: Black Country Communion - V

It’s been seven years since the last album by Black Country Communion. Not that the members of this genuine supergroup have been idle by any means. Just check out what Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian have been up to, and the only thing that comes to mind is how they’ve managed to find the time to get the fifth album under the BCC banner completed. This is truly a band who are even better as a unit than individually, which is some statement.  V is a superb album, from the richness of opener Enlighten through to the closing song The Open Road. Enlighten is a statement of intent, Sherinian’s lush keys working in harmony with the ferociously soulful vocals of Hughes, who simply gets better with every recording. He’s locked in with Bonham, making room for Bonamassa’s simple guitar work that carries with it a hard rock edge not usually found with this enigmatic and legendary guitarist.
